1. Valentine’s Weekend Megaphone Show!

This week’s monologist - Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft

    Tickets $8

    About Alexis and Sam:

Alexis is a native of Chalmette, Louisiana. She started singing and songwriting at an early age and attended the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) for musical theater before being displaced by Katrina. In the years following the storm, she has done her part to put St. Bernard Parish back on the map: touring all over, gracing festival stages, and competing on NBC’s The Voice. She is the president and founding member of Alexis & the Samurai, her duo with fellow Megaphoner Sam Craft. In her spare time, she enjoys sushi, thrift stores, and making applesauce cake. Yes… Apple. Sauce. Cake.

Sam was born into a family of musical nerds in Algiers. He is a violinist and has carved an afro-shaped niche in the city, sitting in with a variety of musical acts both live and in the studio. When not performing with Alexis & the Samurai, he fiddles most regularly with The New Leviathan Oriental Fox-trot Orchestra and The Susan Cowsill Band. Very recently, Sam, Alexis, and several other local musicians of note have formed ‘Sweet Crude’, a Cajun-indie-rock band. Sam rules.

  2. January 19th: Miss Malaprop

We are stoked to have Miss Malaprop join us this Saturday for The Megaphone Show! We met her at November’s Hell Yes Fest and well gosh, we’re just big fans of hers. You should be too. Read more about her below and come see her this Saturday at 10:30p at TNM!

    From her website:

Miss Malaprop is your source for unique, handmade and eco-friendly products that you can feel good about buying.

I have loved art, crafts and making things for as long as I can remember. I began documenting my love of all things handmade in 2006 with my blog. My dream from the start has been to create a shop where I can share all of my amazing handmade finds with you. Here you’ll find handmade and eco-friendly goods made by a variety of talented artists, perfect for yourself, your friends, your home and more!

My goal is to be a conscious consumer. Wherever possible when I buy something, I want to know where it came from, who made it, how it was made, and what it is made from. In my shop, I want to share this information with you, so that you can make informed shopping decisions. If you don’t see your questions answered here, please feel free to get in touch with me, and I will try my best to find the answers you seek!

Miss Malaprop is currently a one woman operation, so please be patient. I work hard to keep my customers happy, so please let me know if there is any way I can serve you better!

  3. January 12th, 10:30p: Jolene Fehler

Hailing from the cold, Canadian north, Jolene has been training and performing improvisation since 2001 in Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago and New Orleans. The positive effects on her life were instantaneous and it became apparent that she wanted to devote her time to sharing this gift with those who don’t otherwise have the opportunity to play with it.  In April 2008, this vision came to fruition and Funny Bones Improv, a local New Orleans non-profit, was born. Funny Bones Improv takes comedy improvisation to sick children in hospitals. This is Jolene’s passion, along with her 9-month old son Isaac, both of which keep her laughing all day long.

  4. January 4th, 10:30p

Yes, you read that right. We’re doing a Megaphone Show on a Friday night. We’re kicking the new year off right with our good pal and New Orleanian Sean Patton. Sean spent 2012 being a total badass with appearances on Jimmy Fallon and the release of his debut album Standard Operating Procedure.
